Carrot is a root vegetable, usually orange, even though purple, red, black, yellow, and white carrots exist as well. Besides their delicious flavor, carrots contain high amounts of beta-carotene and other health-benefitting compounds such as vitamin A, minerals and antioxidants. Carrots offer multiple health benefits and are beneficial for organs such as the eyes, skin, digestive system and teeth.

This crunchy vegetable is low in calories and rich in nutrients gives you high doses of vitamin A and other antioxidants when consumed or applied topically. Some benefits of carrots for the skin are as follow

 Benefits of Carrots for skin

The benefits of carrot for the skin are evident because the vegetable contains big amounts of vitamin A and other antioxidants that protect again various skin issues and help in keeping a healthy skin complexion.

Carrots for Glowing Skin

Consuming carrots helps maintain your skin and keep it looking healthy and radiant due to their huge amounts of vitamin C and antioxidants—they are substances that may protect cells in your body from free radical damage that can occur from exposure to certain chemicals, smoking, pollution, radiation, and normal metabolism.

Carrots Help with Treatment of Scars and Blemishes

An effective way to reduce scars/blemishes is drinking carrot juice because it is full of skin-healing beta carotene—a skin-friendly nutrient that is converted to vitamin A inside the body. Moreover, you can apply carrot pulp on the areas you want to treat to clear the blemishes away.

Anti-Aging Benefits

Carrots are loaded with vitamin C that aids the collagen production in the body. Collagen is fundamental for the maintenance of the skin elasticity. This type of protein helps in the prevention of wrinkles and slows down the process of aging. Similarly, vitamin A, as an antioxidant, attacks free radicals to prevent signs of aging such as wrinkles, pigmentation and uneven skin tone.

Carrots Protects Against Sun

Beta-carotene helps in repairing the skin tissues and provide protection against the sun’s harsh rays. The antioxidants and carotenoids protect and regenerate the skin to help heal sunburns.

Carrots for Dry Skin

When there is a deficiency of potassium, dry skin might occur. Carrots, however, are rich in potassium. As a result, carrot consumption can prevent dry skin to happen, keeping it hydrated.

As you can read, the benefits of carrots are tremendous, so include the vegetable in your diet. Nonetheless, you can also include it in skincare products to enhance results. If you were wondering where can you find them, we’d love to introduce you to our Clear Essence Maxi-Tone Carrot Seed Oil Skin Whitening  Soap  which has a formative effect in stimulating skin cell growth aimed to rejuvenate wrinkled, aged and dehydrated skin. Carrot Seed Oil contains Beta Carotene and Vitamin A to help maintain skin tone and elasticity.

It’s no secret that stress can play a large role in skin health. After all, our skin is our largest organ and an easy indicator for what’s going on within the body.

Stress is a normal psychological and physical reaction to the demands of life. A small amount of stress can be good, motivating you to perform well. But multiple challenges daily, such as sitting in traffic, meeting deadlines and paying bills, can push you beyond your ability to cope.

Your brain comes hard-wired with an alarm system for your protection. When your brain perceives a threat, it signals your body to release a burst of hormones that increase your heart rate and raise your blood pressure. During our teen years, these hormones are obviously out of control while also preceiving most new experiences as threatening which leads to our excess acne and breakouts during this time in life.

Once the threat is gone, your body is meant to return to a normal, relaxed state. Unfortunately, the nonstop complications of modern life mean that some people’s alarm systems rarely shut off.

Don’t wait until stress damages your health, relationships or quality of life. Start practicing stress management techniques today.

To monitor your stress, first identify your triggers. What makes you feel angry, tense, worried or irritable?

Some stressors, such as job pressures, relationship problems or financial concerns, are easy to identify. But daily hassles and demands, such as waiting in a long line or being late to a meeting, also contribute to your stress level.

Once you’ve identified your stress triggers, think about strategies for dealing with them. Identifying what you can control is a good starting point.

Don’t feel like you have to figure it out on your own. Seek help and support from family and friends, whether you need someone to listen to you, help with child care or give a ride to work when your car’s in the shop.

Many people benefit from practices such as deep breathing, tai chi, yoga, meditation or being in nature. Set aside time for yourself. Here are our top picks of stress relievers to help you calm the senses:

Get a massage

A massage not only helps relax the body but it also gives your mind a chance to stop thinking and enjoy the peace and quiet. By massaging the muscles, your body releases tension which when left untreated can cause pain or headaches. Using a hydrating and effective body oil or lotion to massage the skin will also give your skin a glowing complexion! Clear Essence Specialist Body Oil is a great moisturizing oil for massage use not only for its sweet scent and aroma but also because it conditions skin cells for a plump, and supple appearance.

Soak in a bubble bath

Submergence in water can reduce pain and inflammation and also calm the nervous system, reducing the levels of stress and anxiety in the body and improving your mood.We can enhance this by adding certain oils or salts to a bath. Sweet and calming aromas help to relax the mind even further. Try adding 2-3 cap fulls Clear Essence Sensitive Line Moisturizing Body Oil to running water for even more relaxation. We also love the idea of added flowers, fruits, and natural plants to your bath water. Not only does it look pretty but the fruit extracts and flowers have their own natural powers. Try lemon or citrus for skin lightening or chamomile for more aroma and calming effects.

Read a book, dance, listen to music, watch a comedy — whatever helps you relax.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle will help you manage stress. Eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly and get enough sleep. Make a conscious effort to spend less time in front of a screen — television, tablet, computer and phone — and more time relaxing.

Stress won’t disappear from your life. And stress management needs to be ongoing. But by paying attention to what causes your stress and practicing ways to relax, you can counter some of the bad effects of stress, such as acne and breakouts, and increase your ability to cope with challenges.

We have been told that exercising and a healthy diet are ways to go if you want to have a long energetic life. This is absolutely true yet what some people do not know is that these two great habits also help achieve a beautiful healthy skin.

Exercise

Exercising is very important when it comes to a healthy skin. Why you might ask? Well, the answer is simple; it helps nourish skin cells. Also, it increases blood flow and detoxifies the body by sweating. All activities that make your heart rate go up, produces you to sweat. With that sweat you are getting rid of toxins the body do not need and that is exactly what we want because you are cleansing the skin.

Tips to begin working out

Start small: whether you are coming back to the routine, or you are completely new to the journey, it is key to start small and build your way up. Please know any movement is better than no movement at all.
Make one change at a time: you have already decided you are all in for this journey. Well, begin by preparing your clothes the night before. Doing that simple change, will set your mind to your new lifestyle. Being prepared will also help avoid any excuses towards those early morning runs or workout sessions.
Commitment: this is the most important of all. Promise yourself you will work out 3 times a week and stick to it: this is called commitment to oneself. You cannot let yourself down.
Find something you enjoy doing: if do not like exercising, you should find some type of activity you actually enjoy and take advantage to burn calories while performing it. It might be a sport, yoga, dancing, or hiking. Whatever the activity is try to take to most out of it.

Diet

Have you heard that saying “you are what you eat”? Having a healthy diet is key to maintain a fit body, however, the benefits do not stop there. The food you eat highly impacts your skin and complexion. According to Dr. Jessica Wu, dermatologist, “food gets digested and broken down into vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that your body can use to build healthy skin.” For instance, if your diet does not include enough protein, you are depriving your body from amino acids, which produce collagen and elastic tissue. Collagen makes the skin stronger and elastic tissue makes the skin supple. It is important to treat skin from within to maximize results.

Tips for eating healthier

Avoid sugar: when we consume sugar, it travels fast to the bloodstream, making insulin levels to increase rapidly, which could aggravate acne, wrinkles, and rashes.
Colorful vegetables: if you want a beautiful complexion, you must include red, yellow, and green vegetables. Vegetables from these three colors have a lot of nutrients that will contribute to a healthy skin
Fatty acids and Omega-3: add food that contain fatty acids and Omega-3 such as chia seeds, flax-seed, and walnut because they boost collagen production.
Hydration: water plays a big role because hydration helps flush out toxins from your body.

SUNSCREEN!

Although what goes inside helps us look good on the outside, you should also use products that are going to add that extra protection or treat specific issues your skin might be experiencing. Head to our Clear Essence best sellers page to get your favorite products! One thing that will always serve your skin right is sunscreen application daily. Adding this simple but easy step is an effective way to prevent wrinkles, sun discolorations and darkening to the skin! Our My Natural Beauty Moisturizing Body Lotion with SPF 15 is suitable for all skin types and daily application. Don’t forget a beautiful complexion is a combination of treating your skin inside and out!

An anti-aging regimen is something we don’t even think twice about as a kid. As children, we never really appreciated the soft and clear skin we had with until we finally hit puberty. According to Carole Aponte, MD Dermatoligist, “Children’s skin is loaded with healthy collagen and elastin fibers, the proteins that give skin its strength and flexibility.” Youthful skin also has plenty of hyaluronic acid, a substance that fills in the spaces between cells and keeps skin hydrated.

It doesn’t stop there though! Once we get past that stage we start to worry about our skin aging. There are two types of skin aging: intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic aging occurs in everyone. Aponte explains that it’s characterized by dryness and thinning of the skin as you get older. This leads to sagging, fine lines, and wrinkles. “This type of aging develops gradually and at a fairly steady rate so it’s generally not visibly evident until adulthood.

Men and Women Age at Different Rates

Men and women also age at different rates. Read up on the differences in our skin here. Extrinsic aging is caused by external factors, most notably UV radiation from over exposure to the sun. This can lead to premature aging in both men and women. This accounts for up to 90% of what we think of as “normal” skin aging.  One of the main reasons that babies’ skin looks so great is that it hasn’t had time to develop significant sun damage. “Almost all of the roughness, deeper wrinkles, discoloration, and age spots we associate with aging is caused by sun damage,” explains Aponte.

The good news is that it is preventable by lathering on sunscreen whenever you’ll be exposed to the sun’s harsh rays, that includes cloudy days as UVB rays are still present. UVA rays are equally strong year round. It means you need to be wearing a broad spectrum SFP 15 or greater every day.

Come Summer, Practicing other Sun-Safe Behaviors

Wear hats and sunglasses (your eyes can suffer from sun damage as well!). Protective clothing is very important. Also, seeking shade, and limiting time in direct sunlight between 10 A.M. and 2 P.M. when the sun’s rays are the strongest. Sunscreen is non-negotiable; there are a few other practices that will help ensure you hit adulthood with a high level of your baby-soft skin intact.

Three ways to Embrace and Maintain Youthful Complexion

If you’re a pre-teen:

There are three main ways to embrace and maintain your youthful complexion. First, you should apply sunscreen regularly to all sun-exposed skin. Secondly, eat a healthy, well-balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Healthy eating contains essential nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants to help protect skin from environmental damage. Finally, wash your face  twice a day to remove any dirt, oil, makeup, or other chemicals that build up before they can irritate or damage your skin in the long run.

If you’re a teen:

Continue the basic skincare habits listed above and be sure to get enough sleep. We’re here to set the record straight: There really is some truth in that whole beauty rest theory. It’s during sleep that the body performs many essential maintenance and repair processes. It also clears away much of the potentially harmful chemicals that build up from daily environmental damage. Got spring break coming up? Beware of sunbathing or hitting up an indoor tanning bed. Make sure to use a sunscreen daily especially when in direct sunlight (pretty much all the time). Clear Essence My Natural Beauty Lotion with SPF 15 is a natural sun protectant formulated with natural ingredients including aloe, shea butter and glycerin. Make sure to reapply sunscreen every 1-2 hours of direct sun exposure to prevent damage to skin cells. If you’re being treated for acne, sun protection is especially important, as many acne treatments can make skin more susceptible to sunburn and irritation.

If you’re in your twenties:

Upgrade your daily moisturizer, adding a product supercharged with antioxidants and that hyaluronic acid we told you about. Before late nights in the office (or out on the town!) start taking a toll on those under eyes of yours, invest in a hydrating and caffeine-packed eye cream, gel, or roll-on serum. Clear Essence’s Platinum Line Skin Lightening Serum helps to lighten those dark under eye circles while promoting a healthy glow to the skin tone.

And if your skin is already showing signs of early aging from sun-soaking during your younger years or those all-nighters you pulled during undergrad, adding a topical antioxidant like a vitamin C or E may help reverse some early signs of damage. Check out the Clear Essence Vitamin C Line which is packed with lemon and licorice extracts for an even tone and plumped complexion.

In those with oily or acne-prone skin, an over-the-counter product that exfoliates dead skin cells such as Alpha Hydroxy Acid, or exfoliating soap bars may also help treat damage and even prevent any skin-thinning caused by intrinsic aging. Clear Essence’s Anti-Aging Line is formulated with alpha hydroxy acid ingredients to help renew damaged skin and regenerate healthy skin cells. The Complexion Soap with AHA is one of our most popular face washes as it naturally exfoliates the skin bringing out a more radiant tone. To add a quick step to your current regimen, our Toner Astringent with AHA is also a great cleanser for second step removal of any dirt or bacteria left behind from a first step wash. Regularly exfoliating the skin and removing dried, dehydrated skin cells will help to keep skin even toned and bright.

Moisturizers are incredibly important for the skin care because they promote hydration and health in general. It helps to rebuild a barrier that protects the skin after you cleanse it. However, sometimes, it can become difficult to choose just the right moisturizer for your skin type. Choosing the ideal moisturizer for your skin type is crucial to obtain all the benefits your skin needs. We want you to be informed and understand that you might be using the incorrect moisturizers. Keep reading you will find five signs you are doing it wrong.

Oil Based Formulas (Oily skin)

The main purpose of moisturizers is to keep your skin hydrated. On the contrary, of your current moisturizer is giving you that extra shine or makes you look like a greasy pan ready to pour your cake mix. Well, it is time to QUIT it. So, if you have oily skin, you must avoid oil-based formulas. Look for products that contain these ingredients glycerine, dimethicone, and niacinaide such as our My Natural Beauty Lotion with SPF, which is an ultra-lightweight, virtually invisible natural sunscreen offering SPF 15 protection.

Ingredients that Clog Pores (Acne)

Moisturizers that make you breakout need to leave your life immediately. Usually thick, cream-based formulas increase oil and sebum to the skin, causing acne. We suggest our Skin Lightening Serum for oily skin types as this light weight gel products sits on top of the skin rather than soaking into pores. Avoid comedogenic ingredients because they might clog pores and look for ingredients that reduce acne instead such as salicylic acid and retinol. If you want to know a little bit more about this matter, this article may help you.

More Moisturization (Dry Patches)

If you are using moisturizers daily and you still have dry areas, you need to change your game and ditch that moisturizer right away. During the cold months, people with dry skin get drier when they are not prepared with a good moisturizer. Look for moisturizers that are rich and help to lock in your body’s natural oils. Look for ingredients such as isopropyl palmitate, which reduces skin dryness and flaking, and cetyl alcohol, a fatty alcohol used for its lubricating and moisturizing properties. You can find those ingredients in our Skin Beautifying Milk, a moisturizing body lotion that eliminates dry skin and dark spots to reveal an even skin tone.

Redness or Irritation

This is the most obvious sign if your moisturizers is giving you irritation, please stop use immediately. People with sensitive skin are the one most exposed and affected by this issue. If this is your case, we recommend you to test new product first in other area of your body such as your elbow to make sure you do not have an allergic reaction. Clear Essence offers a sensitive line for people with sensitive skin which includes Clear Essence Sensitive Line Skin Beautifying Milk. It is used for a full body even skin tone and moisturized glow.

Last but not least…

Sun Spots and Discoloration

Moisturizers have nothing to do with sun spots and discoloration. These issues are caused by sun damage. If you begin to notice these matters in your skin, it might be time for you to upgrade to a skin care routine to better serve your complexion. There are moisturizers that can help firm and brighten the skin. With Clear Essence you can’t go wrong, our Skin Beautifying Milk is a moisturizer that eliminates dark spots and tones the skin.

When using a moisturizer, it is key to acknowledge the signs your skin is giving you to continue use or change. Do not ignore them because it’d only worsen the issues you might have.

Melanin, according to an article from the University of Murcia in Spain,  comes from the Greek melanos, meaning dark pigmentation. General speaking, we can define melanin as a pigment that melanocytes cells produce. The pigmentation comes in various shades depending on the genetic makeup of each individual. So far, we have defined what melanin is. Now we will discuss how this pigment works.Dark pigmentation comes in various shades

Factors Affecting Melanin (Dark Pigmentation)

Individuals have the same number of these cells (melanocytes). However,  there are different factors affecting the production of melanin.

Exposure to UV radiation:

Melanin is produced to protect the skin from the UV rays. People who are exposed more to the sun produce more melanin as a result.

Genetic Makeup:

Due to inheritance, different ethnicity are genetically predispose to produce different shades of melanin.

Size of Melanocytes:

Each individual is different and so are the size of their melanocytes. This could leading to a difference in the amount of melanin production

Disease Conditions:

There are some diseases that can affect the production of melanin such as albinism and vitiligo, reducing the production of melanin.

The absence or abundance of the production of melanin can significantly affect an individual’s skin. The production of melanin is key for the prevention of skin cancers such as melanoma. This means the skin becomes darker and darker when exposure to the sun increases. This occurs for the majority of individuals, yet no all of them. It is critical for us to educate our beloved customers on this subject. So they can take precautions to protect themselves. This matter is of importance to us since Clear Essence Cosmetics specializes in the treatment of dark spots, discoloration, and hyper-pigmentation  In the majority of the cases, this result from the variation of the production of melanin. The company offers different products for all skin types. Our main objective is to correct skin problems unique to people of color.
